I was lucky enough to see Bright Star twice this past year, and I have to say it’s my new favorite show. I left both times singing along with the beautiful, original score written by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. The story was incredibly touching, not to mention the wonderful choreography complete with fully-committed actors who love and believe in this story. After one of the performances, I met pretty much every single person in the cast and they signed my Playbill. I hope to see it many more times and eventually be a part of it someday.
Carmen Cusack is a vision. She IS the show. I’ve never seen a performer so engaged in her circumstances–her character has to shift between 23 years throughout the show, and she does so seamlessly. Also, the most gracious human. Fingers-crossed for tonight!
