“Give me your hands, if we be friends”

Good morrow!

It is an exciting and busy time for me, as I am in rehearsals for two shows that happen about a month apart – A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Guys and Dolls.

Having rehearsal outside has been a dream.

Fairies, lovers, and fools are loose at Laurel Hill Cemetery! When a group of love-mad youths and wannabe actors wander into the forest outside Athens, all (or at least most) think they have a plan. But the woods are full of weirdness and the local sprite population isn’t going to let this opportunity pass. See what happens when you venture outside of your city’s walls in a comedy that could have just as easily been a tragedy! As part of Laurel Hill’s annual Shakespeare in the Cemetery series, The Mechanical Theater will present one of Shakespeare’s most popular works, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Directed by Loretta Vasile. Bring your own blankets, beach chairs, picnics, and/or beverages.

Show dates: July 20, 21, 27, 28

“MDW – Outta The Hat: Picnic Plays!”

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday weekend! I was busy with Theatre with a View and their production of “Outta The Hat: Picnic Plays.” This was very similar to what I did in March with Philadelphia Dramatists Center – playwrights and actors met on Friday evening, received inspiration this time via recipes (hence, the picnic theme). We all reconvened Sunday evening for a very fun read-through of six brand new plays!

As an actor, this is a very fun “think on your feet” challenge made easier surrounded by a very supportive group and audience.

“Back into the forest…”

And the exciting news keeps coming!

I’m excited to announce that this summer I get to reprise one of my favorite roles and take on an additional role – Helena AND Robin Starveling in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Mechanical Theater.

“24 Hour Play Reflection”

This past weekend was crazy – more specifically Sunday, where I was given a script at 11:30am and had to memorize and perform it, staged by 6pm.

It was a nice challenge for the usual perfectionist in me. To just do what you can with the material, make it your own, and have fun. The words were not going to be perfect, and that was okay. I forced myself to memorize as much as I could word for word and see what happens. I met some lovely people during this process and would love to do it again.
